Some ages groups may be broken down more if we have large groups, ie. K-2nd to K 5-6 yr. olds and 1st and 2nd Grade.  Also, some of the teachers listed are still praying about teaching these particular classes.  Please let me know if you are interested in teaching or assisting in a class.  There is no class size limit if it is not specified in purple.  We will also offer a study hall each hour this year; it will be free of charge and on occasion we will have a tutor available.

  • CourseDescription:                                                                                                                                                                                                Each class will consist of the following:  Game time, Centers, Music & Movement, Snack time, Story time, Arts & Crafts, Bible time.  They kids will have lots of things o help them learn during their two hour class time.  The lesson plans are designed to be very flexible and because every child is different, necessary adjustments will be made to better meet their needs. If you have any question feel free to call Sharon Young and all suggestions are appreciated and welcomed.

  • Course Description:                                                                                                                                                                                                  We will be learning about the heart and lungs, the digestive system, bones and muscles, and our senses. We are going to try and complete 1 experiment in every class.

  • Course Description:                                                                                                                                                                     

    In each class a book, poem, nursery rhyme or other type of literature will be read. Learning activities will be done in one or more subject area. Language Arts, Science, Math, Art, etc.) to correspond with the literature read that day.


  • 3rd- 4th Grade: Geography  (Class Size Limited to 12)                                                     (Kim Langley/ Diane Hoffman)

 

  • CourseDescription:                                                                                                                                                                                                      We will be studying World Geography and learning how to read map keys. We will have a note book to keep and songs to learn. The children will receive handouts each week for the note book.

 

  • 3rd-4th Grade:  Young Peacemakers  (Class size limited to 10)                                     (Shelia Soileau/ Amy Stubblefield)

 

  • Course Description:  

    Help your children understand and respond to conflict in a Biblical manner using a collection of short and sassy comic books. Each ten page book is filled with illustrated stories that teach kids how to be better peacemakers among their friends, families and authorities. This class focuses on specific problems (that kids are likely to face in their own lives) and presents biblical principles of confession, forgiveness, communication and character development. Lessons conclude with "what would you do" activities and application questions.

 

  • 5th-6th Grade: Creation                                                                                                 (Michael and Angela Frazier)

 

  • Course Description:  

    Utilizing Vision Forum's Jonathan Park radio drama series, students will enjoy an exciting journey into the adventures of Jonathan Park and his family.  Each adventure is based on real places and scientific discoveries. Class time will be spent listening to a professionally recorded radio drama and then reviewing/discussing some of the Creation Truths that were presented in that episode.  Activities will be provided to help the students defend their faith in Biblical Creationism.  At the end of the year, a "fossil dig" will be planned for the students to enjoy— finding and keeping real fossils and gemstone

  • CourseDescription:                                                                                                                                                                                               In this class we will discover the various types of government and compare each of them to the Biblical pattern of government.  We will look at American government in depth, learning about the three branches of government, and compare our use of the constitution to the intentions of our forefathers.

  • CourseDescription:                                                                                                                                                                                                       We will learn the basics of mechanical drawing.  We will be using t-squares and triangles.  We will learn to draw objects precisely such as buildings and mechanical objects.

    This class will enhance your childs ability to learn through musical skills that will be valuable later for singing, learning to play instruments, and worship / Fun and engaging childrens computer games offering discovery through exploration that provides a positive  role model for your child.

  • Course Description:  

     

    We will start out every class with a few minutes of warm-up and stretching activities. After that, we will go into our activity for the day. Each month, I would like to focus on a different theme. One month, we may focus on activities that involve hula hoops, the next month we may focus on activities involving parachutes, and so on…

  • Course Description:  

    The students will learn the basics of cooking and sewing.

              Cooking will involve learning:

    How to follow a recipe

    Cooking terminology

    How to half or double a recipe

    How to calculate the cost of a meal per serving

    How to set a table

              Sewing will involve learning:

                        How to mend a tear/rip

                        How to sew on a button

                        How to read a pattern

                        The basics of machine sewing

  

  • 7th -12th Grade: Biology 1/2 Semester/ Chemistry 1/2 Semester                                     (Tammy Neumann/ Gina Tatom)

 

  • Course Description:                                                                                                                                                                                         This class will involve 4 branches of science – biology, geology, physics, and chemistry. We will be dissecting during the fall semester – fetal pig and the other items that come with their dissecting kit. Most of the cost of the class is for the dissecting kit. If 2 students are in the same family they can share the kit cost. Geology will cover identifying rock vs. minerals some identifying gems. Physics will cover velocity and simple machines at least. Chemistry will cover as much as possible based on equipment available and what the facilities allow. We will cover some kitchen chemistry that will be edible. There is a possibility that a few of the class days could take longer that the hour in order to complete a lab. The cost of the class is $40 for dissecting kit (only 1 needed if in the same family) the kit will be sent home at the end of the fall session. $20 for the other supplies needed in the class.

  • Course Description:  

    Utilizing Vision Forum's Jonathan Park radio drama series, students will engage in deeper studies of the Creation/Evolution debate. Class time will be spent listening to a professionally recorded radio drama and then reviewing/discussing some of the perspectives presented in the episode.  By utilizing printed study guides, students will be challenged to make sound, reasonable conclusions to support the truth of Creation. Class depth will also stretch into additional Creation Science research beyond the scope of the radio drama series.  At the end of the year, students will be able to engage in excavating a simulated fossil dig and then identify and catalog what they find.
